Stone for bars and reception desks

A bar or reception desk is the first surface a guest touches. Tops need to resist spills; fronts can be decorative, which is where onyx and agate come in.

Translucent stone can be backlit behind a bar front or desk panel, with an even LED panel and a ventilated frame.

Quartz or marble for a kitchen island?

Quartz suits most kitchen islands: it resists stains, food acids do not etch it and it needs no sealing. Choose marble if you accept etching.
